Summary

Welcome to the Hi-Desert Calendar! The Hi-Desert Calendar (“HDC”) is a uniquely-designed tool that integrates onto a single, easily-accessible public calendar all the public fundraisers and important events from the calendars of area non-profits who have registered to be a part of the HDC. As the calendar grows, the HDC may find it beneficial to also include the major events of “for-profit” businesses as well. The HDC also includes major holidays and the lunar cycles.

While each participating non-profit is responsible for entering and maintaining their own set of events on the free Google Calendar web-based program (see the Getting Started Guide), the HDC will automatically upload those entered events and instantly integrate them into the full public calendar. In order to participate, a non-profit must register with the HDC, and this process is covered in the Getting Started Guide.

If a participant needs to make changes to their events, they can easily do that 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If the event includes an address where the event is to be held, Google Maps will direct HDC viewers to your event, even providing turn-by-turn directions. Moreover, if a participant doesn’t have a website, the participant’s events will be available to public not only through the HDC, but also through Google’s search engines, thus providing even more publicity for Hi-Desert events.

What are the benefits of including your organization in this FREE calendar?

What does my non-profit need to do in order to participate and list our events?

Please follow the “Getting Started Guide” to get your organization quickly participating in the Hi-Desert Calendar. That guide, which takes you step-by-step through the process of getting your account, is available to download or read online at www.IntegratedCalendars.com/HDC/GettingStartedGuide.pdf. In summary you will need to do the following:

1. Establish a Google Calendar account for your non-profit entity.
2. Fill out the Application that gives the HDC information about your non-profit and allows us to accept into the integrated HDC the public events you put into your Google Calendar account.
3. Request that the HDC include your events.
4. Enter your events onto your Google Calendar.
4. Sit back and smile! You’re a part of the HDC!

Is Training Offered?

It is recommended that you plan to attend the seminar training on September 29, 2010 from 1-5 pm at the Blak Box Theatre at Joshua Tree’s Hi-Desert Cultural Center. A large block of time has been reserved for the seminar so that individual questions can be answered and customised help can be provided. Please register for the seminar at www.IntegratedCalendars.com/ HDC/TrainingRegistration.pdf and bring your laptops if you have them. The Blak Box has hi-speed Internet and by bringing your own laptop you can work along with us as we go through the calendar features and help you establish or improve your calendar account. Before you leave you will have your non-profit integrated into the HDC and if you are bringing information on your events, you will even have those entered and viewable for all to see!

How can the public see our non-profit’s events and where can we see all the other non-profits’ events?

Access to view the calendar is FREE for everyone – anywhere! Tell your supporters to mark www.sunsetrotary.org/hidesertcalendar.html or www.hidesertculturalcenter.com/hidesertcalendar.html as a favorite on their web browsers. From there, the calendar can be viewed for any day, week, or month of the current year or future years. Viewers can print out a copy of the calendar in several formats, set up reminders, contact the event holders, or request notices whenever a new event from their favorite non-profits is added to the calendar.

How can I or my business buy ads on the calendar, and where does the money go from the ad sales?

Anyone wanting to purchase an ad may do so, subject to availability, by emailing us at hidesertcalendar@gmail.com. The ad price list is posted on the Integrated Calendars webDesite page for the HDC. All proceeds from ad sales go to the sponsoring non-profits, who are the Hi-Desert Cultural Center and the Sunset Rotary Club of Yucca Valley. The calendar creators are providing the calendar and their time completely free of charge as a community service for the area’s non-profits and residents.
